YouTube Channels | How Many YouTube Channels Are There in the World?

There are 52 million YouTube channels as of 2022. It is increasing steadily: it increased by 36% last year. Every minute, 512 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube by people all over the globe.

There are 52 million YouTube channels. Some are small, while others are large. Some channels have many videos while others only show one video. Some come from brands, others from creators… They are diverse like animals. This is how I illustrated it recently:

Each animal represents a specific number of YouTube subscribers. Socialblade provided the data for this illustration. It requires at least five subscribers to count a channel as a channel. However, channels with fewer than five subscribers are not counted. This means that the number of channels has increased by 7 million in the past year. That’s an increase of 23% over 2019.

In 2020, the number of channels with 100-1000 subscribers, as illustrated by the frogs above, grew significantly. It was a little easier to reach the 1,000 subs milestone, according to some reports.
